The New York Racing Association Contracts With Resorts World To Operate Food And Beverage Venues At Aqueduct Racetrack

Resorts World Casino New York City (RWNY) and The New York Racing Association, Inc. (NYRA) have reached an agreement for the casino to operate select food and beverage venues at Aqueduct Racetrack, executives from the organizations announced today. With the addition of these outlets, RWNY will add 141 full-time positions from management level to frontline staff, bringing the total number of permanent jobs for the project to 1,291.

“The partnership we have with NYRA is made even stronger by this new collaboration,” said Michael Speller, President of Resorts World Casino New York City. “Together we are committed to creating an extraordinary entertainment experience in Queens and to improving the neighborhood we call home. With Resorts World coming on line at Aqueduct, we can offer more employment opportunities for job applicants and better serve the Queens community and our visitors alike.”

As of July 20, RWNY had received more than 15,000 applications for permanent employment with more than 75 percent submitted by local Queens residents.

RWNY has been committed to improving facilities and services at neighboring Aqueduct as part of its new casino construction since the project’s inception. The new food and beverage outlets that RWNY will operate at Aqueduct will allow RWNY to provide the same exemplary service to Aqueduct visitors as to those visiting the casino.

“We are thrilled to continue working with Resorts World to improve our racetrack and our community,” said NYRA President and CEO Charles Hayward. “This is an exciting transformation for a Queens institution and we are happy to offer our visitors - old and new – an enhanced racing experience along with much-needed employment opportunities.”
